Triangle Body Shape: Sometimes referred to as “Pear Body Shape”, this is those that have a waist wider than their bust. If this is you, you probably have fuller hips and narrow shoulders in comparison.
What to wear: Show off your defined waistline with high-waisted pants and a statement belt. If you want to draw more attention to your top half, utilize shoulder defining tops to provide more balance (ex: boat-neck tops).
Rectangle Body Shape: This may be you if you are not particularly curvy. Those with a rectangle shape typically have a waist that is straight, meaning the shoulders and hip measurements are almost the same.
What to wear: For rectangle body shapes, you’ll want to play around with emphasizing different parts of your body. Things to try- sleeveless tops, off the shoulder tops, and sweetheart necklines.
Heart Body Shape: Also known as inverted triangle, heart-shaped body styles are generally well proportioned, but their shoulders are broader than their hips.
What to wear: To accentuate your bustline, try out V-neck tops, ruffles, and empire-waist dresses. To show off your legs, chic pencil skirts, minidresses, and skinny jeans can help create a more balanced look if you’re feeling top heavy.
Hourglass Body Shape: This is you if you are curvy with a naturally well-defined waist, yet your bust and hip measurements are roughly even.
What to wear: You will want to draw attention to your narrow waist. This can be done by high-waisted pants, crop tops, and wrap dresses. Anything that belts at your waistline will be complimentary to your shape.
Oval Body Shape: Slightly different than a rectangle, those with an oval body shape have shoulders and hips that are proportional but will have a torso that measures wider than their shoulders and hips.
What to wear: The goal is to accentuate your waistline and create natural balance between your upper and lower portions. A-line skirts/dresses and anything that sinches at the waist will help this focus. Try to opt for solid colors and vertical stripes to create an elongated look.
