Here’s the thing.
When you’re constantly dissatisfied with your wardrobe & constantly cycling new trends, you’re never going to feel truly attached to anything in your wardrobe. It’s going to feel like it fits a season or needs a reason, otherwise it’s out. Which is just very silly because the best pieces are typically the ones we wear on repeat.
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again; a loved wardrobe is a worn wardrobe.
The problem is most people aren’t wearing their wardrobe. When we don’t wear our wardrobe and lack interest in the pieces we currently possess, we’re constantly ideating and scrolling online tempted by endless amounts of fast fashion options.
This is where the problem begins.
We excuse the excessive purchases because of the discounts received, but we’re left with the same problem: a closet full of cheap clothes we don’t love.
So, how do you learn to love your wardrobe?
The solution is relatively simple: get picky.
Seriously. Start saying no more than you say yes. Take a break from the scrolling, the influencers, shopping hauls. Focus on feeling good every day in each outfit, even if you’re just going to the store.
Start investing. Now that you’re saying no to random shirts here or there, start saving up for that nice coat you’ve been thinking about, or maybe that quality pair of jeans your capsule wardrobe is missing.
You’re going to start feeling better about your wardrobe when you take the time to get to know what your wardrobe needs and add and subtract accordingly. You’re also going to be inherently happier with your style because you’ll start dressing more like you, and less like everyone else.
Remember: personal style is personal.
