Pursuing Personal Style
You don't have to have a passion for fashion to pursue your personal style; here's how.
Achieving outfit satisfaction doesn’t have to be complicated; it’s actually pretty simple.
All you have to do is pursue your personal style. But what does that even mean?
It means dressing like you, for you.
Oftentimes, people find comfort in similarity and numbers. Ever send the text, “What’s everyone wearing tonight?” Nothing wrong with it, but that’s how a group of girls end up wearing variations of the same thing when they go out.
Imagine never texting your friend to see what they were wearing before a meet up or getting everyone’s approval prior to purchasing a dress for an upcoming event; either way, there are comfort in numbers.
In order to pursue your personal style, there are a few things you’ll need to be sure to do.
3 Ways to Pursue Your Personal Style
Get serious & be disciplined.
If you’re ready to build a wardrobe you love, be ready to get committed. This isn’t for the faint of heart or the lazy. Unfollow excessive influencers that will encourage overconsumption and limit your focus to 3-5 individuals who share in similar taste between who you are v. how you are trying to dress/be. Your support group matters, picky wisely.
Learn to say “no”.
Not everything is destined to end up in your wardrobe. Learn to say no and acknowledge what is & isn’t for you. In order to build your forever wardrobe, you want to not only learn to say no, but also learn to be incredibly picky. As you audit your wardrobe & dictate whether new additions are functional, learn to not settle and only hold onto pieces that make you feel your best.
Add slowly.
Remember, it’s not a race. Finding balance between functionality and versatility takes time; the best wardrobes are never finished and are a progressive pieces of art. This is because building a wardrobe you love sustainably doesn’t happen overnight and shouldn’t be expected. It takes time to identify and cultivate your personal style, but then time and patience to collect items that are unique to you.
