Look Good, Feel Good
How minimalism applied to your wardrobe can help you look good & feel better.
“Love People, Use Things” was a really, life-changing book and is great for anyone unhappy with the status quo. It’s a real-time story of two guys who have it all just to find out, it all wasn’t what they really wanted.
I think that we all can feel what they felt on a small, daily basis though; through things like buyer’s remorse or just lack of satisfaction with our personal items in general. The faster we consume, the more likely we are to consume in misalignment.
Once they shifted their focus from consumerism to community; giving, not taking; people, not stuff, their entire perspectives changed on life. Minimalism starts with stuff, but it’s not only about the stuff; the stuff is just the beginning.
It’s being able to (actually) deliberate between your wants & needs.
If thoughtless consumption is the problem, then deliberate purchases are the solution. But sometimes it can be hard to know what the appropriate amount of stuff is, especially in your closet.
It’s easy to oversaturate your closet with things you think you need. But here’s the thing, you’ll use less of your closet the more that’s in there because you’re less likely to rely on creativity; causing you to feel like you have less than you actually do.
Downsizing your closet inherently gives your brain the room for the creativity it needs to develop personal style. Let’s put it this way: it’s easier to see all the things you like in your closet when you remove all the things you don’t like from closet.
Minimalism isn’t about stuff specifically, but I think stuff, clothing specifically, is a great place to start. Clothing resembles personal style and is really, well… personal, and has the ability to affect all aspects of your life; because how you look affects how you feel, and how you feel affects how you act. It’s easy to get caught up in the reoccurring trends and lose your personal sense of style, causing you to not look & feel as good as you know you can.
That’s why I’m here.
