Cluttered-Closet No More
3 ways to get rid of closet clutter for good & create flow in your closet space.
Sometimes, it’s less about the actual clothes in your closet & more about the way they’re arranged.
Don’t know what I mean?
The way our closets are arranged and organized can impact us physically and psychologically. A correlation between messy closets and depression has been identified; a clean closet inherently leads to less stress, better relationships, and elevated confidence.
It’s important to take your closet organization seriously, not only for your overall health, but also to dress with more ease and satisfaction. Some people struggle to create a consistent flow in their closet and are constantly left with a clutter closet.
Below, I share 3 tips to create more flow in your closet space.
3 ways to create flow in your closet:
Find a home for everything.
When reorganizing your space, be sure to find a home for everything. Whatever that means to you, don’t let any items wander. When hanging your items, find a filing system that works best for you. Two systems I recommend are: ROYGBIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) or Marie Kondo method, hanging by weight: heaviest on the left to lightweight on the right.
Personalize your space.
Many times, people find their closets dull and lifeless; it’s up to YOU to make up for that. This is your opportunity to truly make your space YOURS. Spend the extra money to get the hangers you like (in the amount you need), add some lighting, and get some cute bins. Let your personality come through in both your clothes & closet.
Be consistent.
There are a million suggestions out there to keep your closet clean. My recommendation, regardless of how you organize, the most important thing is to stick to it. Be consistent for a month to see if you like the arrangement & flow; after that time period, assess and adjust as needed.
